SER 10/2015 gives an overview. The Alstom equipment of the first ETCS application 2005 have been updated by SBB and are performing well, among them 60 Re 6/6 and 63 Re 4/4 II.

Additional SBB motive power has been equipped by Siemens and is also performing without problems. This includes 38 Re 4/4 II, 29 Dominos and 61 FLIRTs.

Re 486, E 186 and E 187 (BLS and CROSS) have been updated by Bombardier. Their 2.3.0d software release seems to have a bug which leads to emergency stops in some cases (less than 10%) during the handover between two RBCs (Radio Block Centres). With experienced drivers accompanying these locomotives or giving them a helper at the top, train stops could be reduced. A debugged software version should be available by mid-2016.

Updating Re 482 has been postponed, the 10 DB E 185 and 20 BLS Re 485 will be ready by October.

By the end of 2017 all Swiss signals will be quipped with ETCS L1LS (Limited Supervision) but the necessary vehicle software release 3.0 will not be available any earlier.
