The coaches are apparently from the Centralbahn:

RhB 406

Mark Pichowicz

I visited Meiningen loco works open day this weekend and was surprised to see RhB Ge 6/6i 406 there, I thought it was at Kerzers. Anyone know why it is in Germany, is it being restored to operational condition? I don't recall this having been mentioned on here previously.

It looked to be receiving mechanical attention and was sat in the main workshop on one of the traverser roads. One of the bogies (nose sections) was off central body and been turned 180deg. I have uploaded a couple of photos, not the best as it was surrounded by trade stands and crowds of people.

Thanks,
Mark

Eight people injured unfortunately
The collision was at the bus stop St-Paul. There is only one track for LEB, used in both directions. The bus stop is on the track so the bus must stop standing in the opposite direction than a train leaving Lausanne. TL decided to no longer deserve this bus stop.

I don't what how the normal process for bus drivers and train drivers is at this location.

It is expected that the LEB-track will disappear in a tunnel by about 2020.

The manufacturer and type plates have not been removed, but simply relocated on the upgraded Re 420 LION. The manufacturer plates are still located in the same place. The type plate has been relocated to the right near the door just underneath the revision date label.

Nice that it's retained its type and manufacturer plates on the side.

many SBB examples seem to have lost these of late.

Re: "Crocodile" Ce 6/8 III no. 14305 Bound for Sweden

Martin Baumann

14305 had to be set out at Berlin Grunewald with a hotbox. The SBB Historic coaches have continued to Sweden without the Crocodile. SBB Historic hope to get a mobile repair team from Meiningen to repair the loco on site and hope it will be able to continue to Sweden.

SBB rescues BLS

Ewan Tait

I'll do a full run down later, but the working of the day has to be 40035 Rotterdam Waalhaven - Melzo Scalo hauled by 186 110, which seems to have failed between Fluelen and Erstfeld and was rescued by the Erstfeld LRZ tunnel rescue train and brought into Erstfeld. The LRZ was removed at Erstfeld and 485 013 went on the front and 486 506 banked from the rear to take the train forward over the Gotthard.

Once I've gone through my notes I'll post full details of everything seen today, but currently deep in Tuscany and the wine is good!

Reports on several forums suggest there will now be no 1063s going to SBB after ÖBB significantly raised the rent it was going to charge for them

you say this loco is going via Poland? Is there a train ferry from Poland to Sweden?
Wouldn't Sassnitz to Trelleborg me the quicker option?

Will ETCS be fully activated throughout the Swiss network by then?
Yes, with two specifications:
- Level 2 on NBS, LBT, GBT and some adjacent tracks
- Level 1 Limited Supervision combined with EuroZUB/EuroSignum on P44 of the same balises and Euroloops (simplified: they send the same information in two languages) for the rest of the network

"Crocodile" Ce 6/8 III no. 14305 Bound for Sweden

Don Newing

Georg Trueb reports on Railpicures.net that Ce 6/8 III no. 14305 of SBB Historic will leave Switzerland at the end of the month bound for Sweden where it will take part where it will take part in the celebrations of 100 years of railway electrification on the 12/13 September. It will be hauled dead from Switzerland to Sweden via Germany and Poland. One of the pantographs has been fitted with a wider contact strip to permit operation in Sweden.

Good article on ECTS issues is on Page 7 of the current issue of Today's Railways Europe, Sept 2015, Issue 237. Also on Page 20 is a report on the Gotthard Summit Route - A Year to photograph by David Haydock. An excellent read, this morning, after arriving in the post.
