This recently overhauled railcar has been stopped after a tap changer explosion. The damage may be serious enough that it will not be repaired

I took a photo of 11259 yesterday at Erstfeld and it definitely has UIC18-POL written under the connector.

Passenger locos are starting to get the uic number on the side but unklike cargo will retain the chrome numbers both end and sides

Re: Tunnel locomotives near Brienz

Philip G Graham

On the web-cam site: http://webcam07.vistaplus.ch/image.jpg the two locomotives can be seen.

The white Schöma CFL100DCL (now believed to be s/n 5387) has been used regularly 5 days per week on what looks like to be mainly man-rider trains.

The yellow GIA DHD25 has been dormant in the last three weeks of observation, but today has moved out into use on a rake of general purpose rolling stock and another man-rider car.

As previously suggested, rail use at this site is about to be concluded as the safety tunnel fit-out moves into a different phase.

MGB Deh4/4 52

MGB Deh4/4 52 hauled its first revenue train a couple of days ago following a major overhaul. It now has experimental LED headlights (but supposedly at one end only...)

Good news that one of these units is still being overhauled, suggesting a few years more service for this now 44 year old loco

I have 11259 as without UIC 18-pol

In addition to 11200:

Other changes in the last few days are 11108 retaining Swiss Express livery but officially renumbered as 420-108-3. Where is this placed on the Orange livery? And is 11108 retained anywhere on the loco?

Also new with EVN 420 138

11259 was seen this morning at Bellinzona on a freight and appeared to have
UIC-18 pol markings on the front in the usual place,
In addition, Personenverkehr 11200 has gained its full EVN
(91 85 4420 200 CH-SBB) on the bodyside,

Re: SBB Cargo Re4/4ii hires

Correcting my previous post, the Cargo 421s seen in hire to Personenverkehr are, of course, 421371/379/383/392/394.

Re 430

OL.Guerbetal

In Thun I saw the green (!) Re 4/4 III 11364 with
- white 430 364-0 on the front, underneath Swiss arms
- chrome 11364 on the side kept, but [Re 4/4'''] removed
- underneath the white line:
Re 430
91 85 4430 364-0 CH-SBBC
with 91 85 4 and CH-SBBC in dark grey (on grey!)

SBB Cargo Re4/4ii hires

43096

On a 10 day visit to Switzerland and have seen the following SBB Re4/4ii locos on hire to Personenverkehr: 11243/244/245/247/248/251/258 and 421371/378/383/382/394 working in the Basel/Zürich/Luzern "whirlpool".
11255 has been on Zürich depot all week. 11259 was seen this morning at Bellinzona on a freight and appeared to have UIC-18 pol markings on the front in the usual place, so this may be an addition to the pool, as I haven't seen this one reported as modified.
In addition, Personenverkehr 11200 has gained its full EVN (91 85 4420 200 CH-SBB) on the bodyside, but unlike the Cargo locos so treated retains its chrome 11200 numbers on the front.

I've dug out some more information on what may take place during the opening celebrations on 4/5 June .

I've read that there will be shuttle trains every 20 minutes, with tickets on sale from April (not sure if they will be for Swiss only or for all comers). Passengers will be expected to return over the mountain route.

Also, at last I have found a more detailed list of cultural events (in German):
http://www.luzernerzeitung.ch/storage/med/redaktion/374448_15KulturereignissNEAT2016.pdf

This is from the Canton Uri Department for Culture and Sport.

I have read: Shuttle trains every 20 minutes are planned, with tickets going on sale in April (to Swiss nationals only?). People would be expected to go one way through the base tunnel and return via the mountain route.

An intervention of the "Surveillant des prix" who thought that SBB long

No, they do not normally go to Neuchtel. Their task is the Simmental and a few trains to Lucerne (on Mondays). The Neuchtel - La Chaux-de-Fonds trains are all Re 465. Their power is needed for the 31 grade. Things have changed!

Is there any new information regarding events on June 4 and 5 especially rides through the tunnel?
