11185 and 11190 have been reactivated and will return to service after attention in Bellinzona

11170 and 11171 have been moved to RBL to await space in Bellinzona before being reactivated

11176 and 11180 are currently being used for parts at Bellinzona

11189 is currently being used for parts at RBL

The new cab design is due to new crashworthiness standards coming in next year but their will be some similarity with the SOB units. BLS/SOB initially planned a joint order but SOB needed their trains sooner than BLS so in the end ordered separately

Will these trains be similar to the new ones ordered by SOB or will it be a whole new sub production from Stadler (e.g. new cab design, etc)? The images look a little like a Giruno cab mounted on a more traditional Flirt chassis

Why a "return"? They are now in car shuttle service and they will remain in car shuttle service, IF they will be used for the Simplon shuttle.

Formally all car shuttle services in Switzerland count as passenger traffic; they have a passenger transport concession.

It is not clear if the Simplon car shuttles will convey a passenger coach in the future. However, if you want to travel in a car shuttle driving trailer you just need a bicycle. :-)

Unfortunately BLS has scrapped the driving trailers Bt 950-953, so they don't have additional driving trailers for Re 425. They might take over the driving trailers from SBB, but then an Re 420 or Re 465 is required.

Furthermore, our newspapers speak about a possible cooperation BLS/RA for the Simplon shuttles. RA might take over from her "90%-mother" SBB the car shuttle rolling stock including some Re 420.

... just to add some speculations ...

The catering will only be a machine such as is found on the current Voralpen Express (Which I have used and found quite good)
