Re: MGB 21

21 is Deh 4/4 and therefore a baggage motor coach and not a locomotive. As of March it was being used as a heating unit in Brig Depot. It cannot currently run on the mainline as it is due an overhaul which may not be forthcoming.

The latest documented passenger working I can find for it is 21.10.2017 to Göschenen

MGB 21

MGB 21 is currently dumped on Brig depot in a forlorn state. It has not been reported working here for a long time now. Does anyone know the status of this locomotive please?

They will be called Capricorn (and this is not English ;-) )

and for fear of stating the obvious, some of the freight passing
through Basel SBB is going to / from France.
I was going to make a similar observation, but there has been some comment about >Intermodals adjacent to platform 31, which perhaps tallies with a train routed off the line >from Basel Bad, whereas the trains Muttenz - France and vv usually travel round the 'far' >(west) side of Basel SBB on the dedicated freight tracks
Freight trains to/from France usually run on the two tracks without platforms that bypass Basel SBB to the south. The intermodal trains I have been seeing are stopped on the northernmost through tracks, including track 4 and those nearby (5, 6, 7...). (I haven't been there this week to check if this is still going on.)

Re: Intermodal trains in Basel SBB station

They often go that way, with a reversal in SBB, when the curve is out of action. However, there was definitely traffic on the curve over the last few days.

It could be something to do with reduced capacity due to the work going on directly above the Schänzli road tunnel. This involves bridge replacements, tunnel refurbishments, drainage work and generally making me late for work.

That's a Bad pun. It can't get any Wurst.

Intermodal trains in Basel SBB station

George Raymond

For the past 10 days or so I have been noticing lots of intermodal trains in
Basel SBB. Are they are being re-routed off the normal direct connector
between Muttenz and Basel Badischer Bahnhof? Does anyone know why? Track
work? Until when will the re-route continue?

(Please excuse me if this question has already been answered.)

Thanks,
George

Was it a Bad accident in Schinznach or an accident in Schinznach Bad? ;)

Re: Norwegian NSB "460's"

In addition to the EL 18 (Re 465), the EL 14 (Ae 6/6) the EL 13 had a mechanical relationship with the Re 4/4I both of which can be seen from the bogies and undercarriage.

Re: Intermodal trains in Basel SBB station

I remember seeing a photo which mentioned that the trains were forced to deviate and pass through Basel SBB.
I do not know whether this means that shunting (direction reversal) is involved, but photos showed these trains passing in the Track 31 part of the station.

I rather thought that might be the case. Although there is always the 'reserve fleet' that lives in Burgwies depot.
