stopped being offered on 1 September?
There have been similar restrictions in earlier years. There are several reasons for this:
- reduced number of passengers allows shorter trains, it has happened that one of the two driving trailers remained in service;
- rolling stock needs maintenance, this is done when frequencies are lower;
- MOB is in a program to retrofit many vehicles with Schwab couplers, maybe some of the vehicles will now undergo this treatment;
- some work on the infrastructure might require altered diagrams;
- if no six-car-trains are required, the diagrams can be simplified, the same consist can cover more different trains (GDe 4/4 can only pull 5 coaches).

BTW you find the restriction already in the timetable 2018 that was printed last year.

On 1st September 2018 the consist was:
Ast 152-Bs 223-Bs 23x-GDe 4/4 6002-Bs 252-Ast 151

On 26th February 2017 the consist was very similar - if not the same:

(My apologies if this question has already been answered.)

So, 5 Bernina Express coaches and an open 2 axle coach on the back.
I count 8 vehicles, of which 6 BEX coaches. Or in other words:
1 Allegra 3512
1 FFA/SIG first class 1293
1 Stadler first class 1309
1 Stadler service coach 2515
1 FFA/SIG Second class 2507
2 Stadler second class 2524 + 2523
1 open wagon for passengers 2094 (SIG 1926, BB L 384/RhB Ek 6066)

Which is, what I recall.

My recollection is that the Davos version has only 5 coaches

On 21st Sept it was formed :

3512, Ap1293, Ap1306, Bps2515, Bp2507, Bp2524, Bp2523, B2094

So, 5 Bernina Express coaches and an open 2 axle coach on the back.

From the webcam pictures I can only tell you that it has at least two first class and two second class carriages.

another train, according to the photos

The cause was a wheel defect on 460 025 which was put on a wheel
skate and hauled on its own to Bern by the LRZ. Trains were diverted
via Burgdorf for several hours
Which left the passengers with the question, how to be on time when the train is late. Our train, IC8 to Romanshorn, should have arrived 09:58 but came to a halt in Zürich HB, track 34 about 10 min late, so there was no chance to reach the train 10:09, track 12 to St. Gallen. No information was given how to get to St. Gallen.

My thought was then, that we might be in Zürich Flughafen in time to catch the St. Gallen train there. And so it was. Arrival in Flughafen was 10:20 and the train to St. Gallen was still due. It should have left 10:21 but finally left 10:24.
