Re: 502 units from December 2018

The linked pdf seems to have errors and omissions as it has proved impossible to work out most of the diagrams and I doubt if they are really going to roster a 502 on peak hour Geneva commuter trains (3566 for instance)

The St Gallen to Geneva workings will initially employ two sets as follows:

1
0519 Zürich Geneva Airport 0827 704

0832 Geneva Airport St Gallen 1235 713

1325 St Gallen Geneva Airport 1727 722

1732 Geneva Airport Zürich 2028 731

2132 Zürich Fribourg 2255 736

2
0604 Fribourg St Gallen 0835 705

0925 St Gallen Geneva Airport 1327 714

1332 Geneva Airport St Gallen 1735 723

1825 St Gallen Lausanne 2140 732

2220 Luasanne Zürich 0037 739

Edited

After a pause for software updates and to concentrate on driver training first passenger workings for some weeks have been reported today.

Those trains booked for 502 in the new timetable are listed at

https://www.fahrplanfelder.ch/fileadmin/fap_pdf/Rollstuhl/Zuggattungsliste.pdf as "FV Dosto",

should have said: "almost all EW II are" as there are a few left with the old 58-pole control line still in use on the Davos push-pull trains.

All EW II are. And alos all EW IV, the dining cars and most Bernina coaches. But it's not only the control line 2012, it's also the air brake line that is needed. And there are still a few coaches around that have the control line 2012 but not the air brake line.

Coaches that have the control line 2012 AND the air brake line do no longer carry a colour triangle or diamond at the edge. Coaches that still have a diamond can't be used within an Alvra consist, only BEHIND an Alvra trainset:

white diamond: control line 2012 is there but not the air brake line
yellow diamond: only 18-pole control line and without indirect emergency brake
orange diamond: only 13-pole control line and without indirect emergency brake and without door position transmission

Re: re more Basel Tram news

Martin Baumann

A year after the accident 5019 is still out of service and has not been returned to Bombardier.

5034 was hit by a van in St Louis on 21 August and derailed. It is reported at least two sections of the tram will have to be replaced due to the extent of the damage

re Pilatusbahn

Martin Baumann

Schweizer Eisenbahn Revue reports that 8 railcars have been ordered from Stadler for service from 2022. Current plans will see two of the existing fleet kept for special workings and one may go to Luzern Verkehrshaus

This is only true for electric standard gauge EMUs, motor coaches and railcars. All narrow gauge or rack motive power has '90' independent from the fact if the company classifies the vehicle as a locomotive or as a motor coach. So we still don't know if the MOB GDe 4/4 is a locomotive or a motor coach (or a motor luggage van).

That comment would start a riot on a British railway forum I am on.
Vehicles such as the RBe 4/4 or the MGB Deh 4/4 are not locomotives
and are not classified as such in Switzerland.
Even the Swiss think they are EMUs, hence the '94' exchange code ;-)

Slightly off-topic, the DB Regio Class 445 power cars are registered as locomotives by the EBA and consequently have a '91' exchange code...

i read recently that work on the Waldenburgerbahn re-gauging was due

This might have been a misinterpretation. BLT has started the
modernisation of the line but not yet the regauging. However all works are done in a way to prepare for the future meter gauge track.

Has a date been announced for the cessation of train workings on the route and is the entire line to close at that time or will buses replace trains on part of the route initially?
As the new rolling stock should be in service by 2022, this is the year when the regauging will be done. This date was chosen because SBB will enlarge Liestal station and the BLT tracks have to be relocated as a consequence. So there will be a closure in 2022 anyway. But with the regauging planned for this year, there will be a bus replacement service for several months.
