Ge 4/4 II might disappear earlier than usual for RhB locomotives. Reason is their electrical gear with thyristors. Unlike other RhB motive power, these locomotives don't have regenerative brakes, only rheostatic brakes. This results in an energy consumption that is 40% higher than with other locomotives.

On 14.05.2019 628 hit a rockslide near Tavanasa-Breil/Brigels in the Surselva area. After inspection at Landquart repair was costed at over 1 Million franks and take around 18 months. As a result the loco has been withdrawn and will be scrapped after reusable parts have been removed.

Coach A 1231 has also been withdrawn, AB 1569 will be repaired

What speed is alleged?

RhB claim the world speed record for metre gauge which was 145 km/h with Alegra 3502 on test in the Vereina tunnel 05.12.2009

To be fair, the network does still involve France, and you could argue that it cannot be helped that the demography of France is very different to Switzerland, so although it may make a 'Swiss' timetable look more jumbled than normal, the number of footnotes is IMO not unreasonable for the following reasons:

Quite a few of the large number of footnotes relate to odd late night workings (and this can jumble up other Swiss timetables as well)

Not unreasonably there will be a big difference between travel patterns Monday - Friday and those at weekends, and because the network serves Alpine areas this will be a double whammy because the pattern switches starkly between a selection of the population commuting into the lowland areas for work on weekdays and different selection of population travelling out of the lowland/urban areas at weekends eg for skiing.

In some cases there is a footnote but it does not mean that there won't be a train all the time in that time slot

The current generator/1st class/bar coaches on the Abidjan-Ouagadougou Express trains are demotorized DMU power cars from the mid-1970s. As such they still hold the world speed record on meter gauge.

The current train covers the distance in 36 hours max. It will be difficult to bring that down to 18 hours.

A local newspaper wrote that the vehicles will get air condition and that the motor coach will be adapted for this. Which I understand as stripping off the motors and other electrical gear and placing a diesel generator in the luggage room.

With an 18 hour journey covering a distance of 1260 km, and three trains a week, this is going to be a very different sort of railway service to the ones the stock has been used on in Switzerland. As someone who has been travelling on public transport in the Geneva area on and off for 58 years (and suffered the frustrations of the poor French timetabling compared to the Swiss...) , this is a mega change ...

Because delay for board security system homologation, it is not clear if direct trains will be operated between Coppet and Evian or if the users have to change train in Annemasse for some weeks or months.
Same question for Annecy or Le Fayet.

Appenzeller Bahnen sold following vehicles to African company STIB SA (La
société de transport ivoiro-burkinabe).

The vehicles are:
- BDe 4/4 41 - 43
- ABt 141 - 143
- B 236 bis 238
- B 241 bis 246

On August 6, B 245 departed from Gais to the workshops in Lorraine where
will receive overhaul.

The Re 456 are for sale. And you can also buy the Revvivos.

The RBDe 561 and their ABt were said to replace the remaining RBDe 566. However, the lack of low floor would limit their use to 2023, due to the people with disabilities act.

SOB Traction (Re 446, Re 456, RBDe 561)

I know that the SOB Re 446 have been sold to EDG (Eisenbahndienstleister GmbH). As soon as the new Stadler Trainsets enter into official service, the Re 446 will be taken out of operation and prepared for the new owners. I presume that the VAE consists with Re 456 and RBDe 561 will be the final ones in use as the Stadler trains take over.

What will SOB do with the Re 456 and RBDe 561 once the Stadler trains are all in operation?
Will the Re 456 be used for other operations or will they be sold. I recall they were listed in the offerings posted by SOB and SBB.
I don't recall the RBDe 561 being on those lists, so I presume that they may still see operation on the SOB network.

Today’s Gotthard Panoramic Express was worked by 11198.

It was booked to be worked by RE 4/4 I 10001 but due to an electrical fault it is currently out of traffic. Today therefore it was replaced by 11411.
