They have been in regular service about end of October. 56 and 57, the last two serviceable, were doing the "short S7".

59 and 60 are stored and are said to be part of an export project together with the 5 FLP trainsets. Destination Africa.

The remaining Be 4/12 have not been in regular traffic since September. RBS will be running a set (2 sets on the 14th and 15th) between the 9th and 16th as listed here after which the remaining sets will be withdrawn

Hi Keith

Many thanks for this. As a farewell to the VAE (well, before it’s technically booked for plastic from Saturday), I’m aiming to give it a thrash on Thursday.

I’m trying to track the diagrams this week to work out where to intercept what, so will very gladly read any Gen you note over the next couple of days.

The 456 pairings have been 91/95 and 93/96 recently so that’s already good to know about a swap. One set has also been running with a single 446 as well - poss 018. If I’m interpreting correctly this set should be on diagram 790.5 tomorrow, although it finishes in Herisau tonight, which is high risk for a cart swap.

Cheers for posting

David

Instructions are only in Slovak but google translate helped.

This year you need to install both

and

Súbor s dátami pre spoje osobnej vlakovej dopravy k CP 2019/2020 pre Slovensko Vlak20Sk.exe

both of which are towards the middle of the page

Only rebuilt coaches at SBBH. There were no more coaches in original condition to be set aside.

Thanks Martin.

The Basel commuters were already discernible in the 'Zuggattungslist' (Z list) discussed a few days ago, The Domo EWII also fairly close to what is shown in the Z list, but the forum list possibly makes the situation slightly less vague than the listing on the 'Z' list with its mention of EWIV

I'm not aware of there being any IR or Comfort coaches left in service.
It was the door system that made them go to the scrapyard before the NPZ coaches. Furthermore it is no longer allowed to use EW I/II NPZ other than in push-pull consists with Re 420 and BDt. Only with Vst III coupled, the doors can be locked (to avoid passengers to alight on the wrong side).

I'm not aware of there being any IR or Comfort coaches left in service.

All the ones I've seen of late are the NPZ liveried ones, with 2+2 seating in 1st class.

Thank you Gordon, and I agree it is very nicely laid out.

New alternative point to point Swiss timetable search engine

gordonwis

Fahrplanfelder, the go to site for the Swiss timetable PDFs has a new point to point timetable search engine starting with the new timetable on 15/12

Basic point to point option already available, 'personal timetable' and 'customised departure board' obviously planned but currently showing as 'not yet available'

https://fahrplanauskunft-oev.transportdatamanagement.ch/qv/#/EinfacheFahrplanauskunft/Suche?lang=de

It offers a very nice compact/concise view of your chosen connection - a very nice alternative to the SBB/Hafas type online timetable search - especially IMHO for experienced railway travellers and for those occasions when you don't want to buy a ticket so don't want an online timetable search cluttered up with fare purchase options

Several nice features, including:
a) tight compact vertical listing (but each separate train instantly expandable to see calling points by clicking on a plus sign) for your chosen itinerary
b) one or more individual results can be selected for printing
c) small at a glance symbols (a loco represents trains) to show how many different trains (or other mode) you will travel on, eg a sample Zurich Airport to Vitznau I did showed three consecutive connections, one with 1 train 2 bus, one with 2 train 2 bus and one with 3 train 1 bus

Are there still EWII in service or is it just EWI KLB (NPZ)?
If there are still EWII are they in IR (Papagei) or Comfort livery?

Re: New SZU units

Andrew Moglestue

I wonder if they are planning to shut down the line for an extended period to make the necessary changes to the electrification, or whether this will be done in a stepwise manner while the line continues to operate, maybe with the occasional weekend or late night blocakde.

One problem with a stepwise transition is that as soon as you have even a short section of AC, the old Siemens units can no longer be used. If the new Stadler units cannot run on DC, you basically end up with a situation in which neither type can be used.

Thus the decison to go with dual system units suggests to me that a stepwise rather than a big-bang transition is being envisioned.
