There is another photo taken the same day which clearly shows 11629 in the shops, so that would suggest that it has to be 11630 in stripped down state in the photo from the original post:
https://www.railpictures.net/photo/752691/

11629 was the locomotive that 11630 collided with as it was pulling an oil train in Basel harbour.

This photo shows a pair of Re 6/6 cab enclosures, of which at least one probably ended up in the rebuilt 11630:

File uploaded showing daily Ge 6/6ii passenger diagrams in folder RhB. No guarantees they actually worked. (Apologies if this is not the optimal folder or of no/limited interest - if this info is worthwhile I’m happy to be guided where it best belongs : Nov sheet under compilation).

Shows a clear pattern of which trains are a good bet (4109/1113), and which not (4367).

I can't imagine anything else than this being 11630. According to EA 10/1980 this locomotive was brought to Bellinzona for repair. It arrived there on 8 Sept 1980. Danuser/Streiff say building a new carbody by SLM had been found too expensive and that SBB repaired the locomotive. All this fits perfectly with the picture in question. 605 and 005 seem to be markings for the workforce and mislead the writer of the caption to think it had a relation to the locomotive number 11605, which was pure speculation. Danuser/Streiff list all heavy repairs but nothing about 11605.

Jean-Marc Frybourg posted a photo that supposedly shows Re 6/6 11605 with only half of it's superstructure, taken at Bellinzona shops in Summer 1981.
https://www.railpictures.net/photo/752729/

I could only find three locomotives involved in serious accidents around that time, of which only the first, 11630 in 1980, fits that period. The others were 11611 in 1986 and 11638 in 1990. I thought that with the date of 1981, this could be 11630, but there are clearly markings that say 605 and 005 on the chassis seen in the photo.

Does anybody have any information as to why a 6 year old locomotive needed such repairs or could this be the 11630?

Re: re SBB Cargo locos

Yes, Cargo, certainly in recent years, have been unwiling to pay for R3 overhauls for any locos except Re 6/6

The only loco of the group to get an R3 was 11375 (as it still was at the time) released 22.05.2002

Re: re SBB Cargo locos

I did not know that. Thanks for the information
Was this a result of the division of the fleet between SBB and SBB Cargo?

Re: SBB Cargo locos

I forgot about that one. The models I had were 397 (Ma37345), 387 (Ro78405), 374 (Ma29483).
Maybe I can still find a Roco 79257 (389) somewhere?

That was the one that was pulling my SBB EC Bavaria. I guess that it was going to be replaced when the new special livery Re 421 came out.
I guess I will retrograde 374 to pulling the EC in the original livery.
Is it co-incident or was it purposely that SBB Cargo sells off those
individual locomotives that had been made models? I have the Roco 72405
(421 387 2) which was sold earlier and now in cream and badge TEE color
which is in the same situation as Mike mentioned.

They must have cooperate with the model makers so modellers will now have
to buy another 2 new locomotives (one in the new livery and another one
in Cargo ^_^

The 421s with one exception have never had a full (R3) overhaul so are in not as great a conditon as some of the older locos

I wonder if it will get a distinctive yellow livery like the 487 did? If not, it would be nice to see it in classic green.

Back to the real thing...
It would seem to me that the 421s being the most recent of the series delivered, that they would be in better shape than some of the older ones dating back to 1969.

Is this new livery being applied to EWIV as well as the IC2000 and will it eventually also include the Apm and Bpm EC?
Yes, EWIV were already being repainted at least as early as April 2019.

421 374 has been sold to Swiss Rail Traffic. It will probably go for overhaul before use as its authority to run without an overhaul expires on December 18th this year

Will this also make an appearance on ICN, Astoro, Giruno, Kiss, Flirt, etc? The Kiss livery is very similar to that of the IC2000.

Re: Station building plans

Rob

There are drawings of Muelenen, Heustrich and Frutigen station buildings in "Die Bahnen der BLS-Gruppe, Geschichte und Rollmaterial", vol 1.1 by Dieter Schöpfer. A fw more in roll 1.2. The few dimensions that are there are very hard to read. Certain dimensions are probably standard and some pro-rata scaling would probably be accurate enough.

Mülenen station is very interesting. And have a look at photos of this station in 2007 and then in 2013!

That is a great set of pictures Markus and just the sort of thing I was looking for.
Thank you and everyone else who has helped me with this. It's much appreciated!
