Re: WRS Vectrons

Interesting. According to Railcolor.net, they were sold to Widmer. They don't seem to have been manufactured for WRS, but rather were either Siemens' stock or were sold to WRS after having been commissioned for somebody else.

Swiss numbering rules for companies used to be ending with 0 for SBB (420, 460, 620, etc) and private had different digits. BLS tractive power ended with 5 (425, 465, etc). SOB/BT/Sihltalbahn/MThB/etc had digits ending with 6 (446, 456, etc) . This seemed to have changed with BLS acquired the former SBB Re 420 and they kept the Re 420 designation, although were labelled as 420.5. The RailCare Vectrons were labelled 486 and the SRT Traxx was labelled 487, so I don't really know whether WRS should fall under 5, 6 or 7.

I am curious as to why so many of these new locomotives are DACHINL and why the companies have not also added Belgium to the homologation, as it seems to me that Antwerp, Ghent and Oostende are also sources for transalpine traffic that these companies might want to compete for.

I don't know how long the lease/rental of the Hupac Vectrons was supposed to last and whether these new locomotives will be replacing those in the WRS fleet. I guess that we will find out more in the coming weeks.

I was unaware that Widmer had ordered Vectrons but two have appeared in Regensburg for commissioning:

91 85 4475 902-3 CH-WRS (Siemens 22898)

This wouldn't explain why the same two trains are used on a section of line north of Campocologno.

Beninabahn - current services

Andy

Can anyone tell me why Alp Grüm seems to be deserted of trains this last week?  The same two ABe units (one an Allegra and the other an ABe50 pair), seem to be providing all services between Poschiavo and somewhere south of the Brusio viaduct which suggests the main line is blocked - but the  Bahnverkehrsinformation map does not show any interruptions to the service.  Is it suddenly a very different timetable or have I just been unlucky with spotting trains which until recently I have been dropping in to record every now and again quite successfully.  Am I missing something obvious?

106 was brought to Bellinzona in Autumn 2018 and is still there
105 was the locomotive involved in the collision of July in Oberwald and will first be repaired and then modernized as the second locomotive.

The 9 modernized MGB locomotives are needed for
- Glacier Express (GEX)
- freight trains Visp - Zermatt
- car shuttles Oberwald - Realp

This lets 4 HGe 4/4 II as surplus. These locmotives, probably 2-5, will not be modernized but retired. Currently plans say that they will be surplus by 2023, when the new Orion EMU arrive. Another option is that they will be kept until 2028 and replace Deh-consists.

BTW:
The 8 HGe 4/4" of Zentralbahn will not be modernized but some units may survive as reserve together with articulated driving trailers 941-943

It seems that not everybody is familiar with this project...

Markus,

Your answer seems to indicate that there will be two locos converted, is that the case?

In another years long field of patience I can confirm that still more patience is needed. The starting date of 13 June 2021 for the MOB gauge changing trains Montreux - Interlaken has been postponed. CORONA delayed bogie delivery and reduced patronage so that an opening is not expected before Dec 2022.

The planned timetable has been published under 120 on
<http://www.fahrplanentwurf.ch>
and was already online on sbb.ch but has now vanished. The trains would have departed from Montreux at ..35 and would have train numbers 4064, 4068 etc.

The 2021 graphic timetable contains trains at ..35 with train numbers
2708F, 2710F, 2712F etc. It seems that MOB thinks of offering fast trains at peak times. Nothing else has been published so far.

I’ve not read anything about this for many months : can anyone confirm the status of this conversion ?
e.g. Is there any planned date for it to be in traffic, or does the deluge of Capricorns mean it’s no longer needed (this week 3121 appears on rosters for the first time) ?
