Some traffic went through Memmingen and some through Kempten. The new electrification means that all EC trains now go on that route.
There was a pretty elaborate article on Zurich-Munich traffic in Bahn Profil around 2000. I will try to dig it up. The electrification and improvements mean that trains can travel faster and this has not only lessened the time, but has allowed for more frequent connections. Check back later and I will post what I can find. Regards Mike C

OT: Geltendorf - Lindau electrification
Toma Bacic
Hello all! Some questions regarding the Geltendorf - Lindau electrification project! - what was the best travelling time between Zürich and München before the electrification? Which route was used by Zürich and München services - through Memmingen or through Kempten? Thank you and kind regards Toma -- ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::Zagreb

Also notable that both 605 and 610 are 12 years older than all but two of the Ge6/6II ! The pairing of the two GE4/4 I represents a combined age of 134 years!

Re: RhB Ge 6/6 II (701 Class)
Notable in respect of the comment and photo below about pairing of 610/605, is that this combination was booked to work 4367 20:02 Kloster-Samedan last Tues, Feb 9th. They have been diagrammed together daily as replacement power for a Ge 6/6 duty on Fri 5th, Mon-Fri 8th-12th.

702/703/707 are the only ones still actively diagrammed, with 705/706 out of service and 704 showing as on repair, now since Jan 18th, ominously.

Barley for Brauerei Feldschlösschen at Rheinfelden
yatton123
Another glimpse over the bridge at Muttenz.
A regular train into Basel Muttenz from France is a weekly train of malting barley for Brauerei Feldschlösschen at Rheinfelden from Les Malteries Franco-Belges (now owned by Groupe Soufflet) at Brazey-En-Plaine. Last year this ran as 44561 (SO) to Basel Muttenz D and 44562 (MO) from Basel Muttenz G, the empties from Rheinfelden to Muttenz G ran as 62052 (FO).The consist is Uagps 33 87 933x (polybulk wagons) owned by Groupe Soufflet and is hauled by a SNCF/Akiem 370xx to and from Basel.Up to early 2018 this was a Europorte service which brought 37 5xxs to Muttenz and was FO in both directions. A very slick operation, loaded train into Muttenz D,detach loco, run light engine to Muttenz G, attach to waiting empties and off.

Re: French sugar trains via Basel and some recent freight news
csipromo
I know that TXL had been using the former Crossrail 186 9XX which they had leased from SBB/Cargologic/BLS.
Under the Crossrail bankruptcy, they had gone to SBB Cargo, but were not needed, so they were leased to other operators. SBB Cargo and BLS have agreed to use at least a few of the former Crossrail 186 to pull the RAlpin Rola trains between Weil am Rhein and Novara, freeing up the Re 485 for other uses and allowing BLS to retire a greater number of their Re 4/4 (425). Additional RAlpiin Rolas are still being pulled by Re 485, leaving the 486 and Vectrons to handle container traffic. BLS can additional still rely on some leased 186 1XX (Railpool) and may still have a few 187. I don't know if TXL still has access to any of the ex-Crossrail 186 or whether they have had to lease additional locomotives. TXL used to operate their own trains using leased ES64F4 and ES64U class locomotives from Dispolok and MRCE. Regards Mike C
