Your are confusing the discussion here. You are not actually wrong, non-
ECR 66s have been working to Basel since 2001, and you are referring to
the HGK 66s that come from Koln.

However, in this discussion we were specifically talking about ECR 66s
(hence the title of the thread) not any other type of 66

passing through Freiburg on many occasions, and also seen the same
machines at Muttenz. I'm not sure who the operator or owner is but the
locos are silver-grey with blue and white lining. As I've seen them

This 66 comes from France.

It is a twice-weekly (usually) train carrying Fiat Scudo vans south

The train is a very good example of how open access freight is better
than the old protracted ways, as it does Bouchain (dep 07.30 ish) -
Basel RB (arr 18.40 ish) in one day, departing back north 19.00 ish
the next evening.

Sadly for me, it is a great example of how ECR has so easily managed
to take over French freight as Fret SNCF is so useless. It travels
over the traditional 'Britain - Switzerland' Tergnier - Chaumont -
Belfort line which was deprived of freight workings some years ago in
Fret SNCFs vain attempt to improve efficiency.
I have travelled to Europe (including watching freight on the
aforementioned line since age 1 as it parallels the route between my
family homes in UK and Geneva) for 40 years to see European trains,
not the same type of loco that no hauls virtually all freight in
Britain.

11309 returned to SBB Cargo on 17th September after some intensive work on Bern-Luzern services

number is unclear but the coat of arms seems to match (she's the second
loco)


Sad to see the demise of another Swiss original loco (and 4 at that)

SER also said that BLS could lease two more Re 4/4 II. It is my
understanding that two of the four, BLS had, went back when the
two Re 465 with collision damage were in service again. So, this would
mean that BLS again has four SBB Re 4/4 II (and 12 own Re 420.5).

During the last ten days I have only seen three SBB locos so far:
11177, 11250, 11256 (Hel�na also saw 11309)

BLS has 20 driving trailers for Re 420.5 or Re 465:
- 9 Bt EW III
- 2 Bt EW I ex MThB/Thurbo)
- 5 BDt EW II ex SBB
- 1 Dt EW I ex SBB
- 3 Dt EW II leased from SBB

2 Bt are used as modules on EW III trains and 3 (BDt, Dt, Dt)
are the reserve, as well as two complete EW III trainsets.

From this we see that BLS would need 15 Re 4/4 II, if we
include the 2 EW III reserve trainsets. Now that BLS has 16
of these locomotives, this explains why you don't see EW III
trains with Re 465 any more.

that GEx 907 shows as depart 09.17 from platform 2C, and RE1128 is depart 09.17 from platform 2AB. If 2C is at the 'back end' of the train, and the car carriers do depart at 09.17, this would explain the car carriers being tagged immediately behind the GEX coaches.

Yes. The hole train will be mixed with GEX and other train coaches.

Perfetc timing! I switched it n just as it was in an area wiht old
wooden poles.

Which reminds me that I am still hoping to engineer a day on the MOB
sometime next year to finally get some lineside pictures of the wooden
poles. Last time I travelled on the line (not in the front of the
train) it looked as though most poles were now steel, but looking at
this webcam there seem to be more wooden poles sections left than I
realised.

Can anyone list the exact section where wooden poles still exist and
whether there are any of these sections particularly good for lineside
photography?
