4013 is now in service.

4009 is currently under repair after a collision with 2058 at Rehalp on June 23rd 2058 will not run again

2006 is also confirmed scrapped

Thanks to all for the information on the 420.5s.
I am after 420 502, I hope to have another try for it on Saturday 11th September, so hopefully it will be back in traffic by then.
Amazing how many times you can cover two diagrams for 3 locos and never get the one you are after!
Fingers crossed, it will probably be my last chance for 502 by the sounds of things.

Tim

No, three remaining for three diagrams. The third diagram is:
EXT 31479 Richtung Domodossola (I)
17:07 Brig, Gleis 9
Domodossola (I) an 17:40

comes back as ECS
powered with Re 465

This train will run as long as Italy makes a difference between long distance traffic and regional trains in checking passengers at the border. BLS trains count as regional trains, SBB trains as long distance...

The second diagram on Interlaken - Zweisimmen is often partly run with NPZ (RBDe 565).

Today all four diagrams of S4 were worked with new RABe 528 MIKA. I have seen numbers 101 ... 110. This makes four RBDe 565 available.

420.5 diagrams are on the European Rail Gen (ERG) IO Group. There are two rostered daily

I think that the remaining EWIII consists are working Zweisimmen - Spiez - Interlaken and back and that the shorter Zweisimmen - Spiez - Zweisimmen are run by 565 or other EMU.

They are running tests with the new dual gauge MOB rolling stock. I don't know if they have done any runs with passengers yet.
I think that these will assume the bulk of traffic between Zweisimmen and Interlaken and back. The remaining trains between Spiez and Zweisimmen will probably remain BLS EMU.

Related question: If there are no operational Re 420.5 available, can the EWIII sets be operated by a RBDe 565 at the head?

Replacement probably at the December timetable change. 502 has been in service this month, 504 last known working 18.07.2021

Without an overhaul 501 can run to 16.11.2022 502 24.02.2022 504 22.07.2022

BLS 420 Diagrams

On Sunday 22nd August, I went to view the BLS 420 turns and found 420 501 on 09:08 Interlaken Ost - Zweisimmen, but there was a 565 EMU on 09:38 Zweisimmen - Spiez.
I could see 420 504 looking a bit dumped down the back of Spiez depot, while what must have been 420 502 was inside the depot, so assume that only one of the three locos was serviceable and that was why the EMU was out. But I guess it is equally possible that there is now only 1 diagram left for BLS 420s.
Can anyone confirm what the status is of 420 502 & 504 and also is there any information on when these locos will be replaced by new EMUs? I assume this is fairly imminent.

Thanks for any information.

Now confirmed as 3129 in the accident. Resolution on only available photo too poor to be certain.

3127 is diagrammed for service on Monday

3129 allocated on repair at LQ

But I am completely guessing, and maybe making 2+2 = 5……

I've gone with the red and blue as I have a photo that shows blue upholstery with grey headrests in a BN EWI and I'll assume there's red at the other end in non-smoking. Photos to follow.

I remember BLS coaches having the red and blue interiors. I think that was around 1985, when I was in the Interlaken region.
I remember seeing BLS EWI in green and in blue/beige in 1971-72. I don't recall whether the interiors were the same or whether there were differences between the two.
The only time I had seen BLS coaches that year was around Bern while travelling from Lausanne back to Zurich after a trip to Paris.

Absolutely agree, Gordon. But the question was for AFTER 1976.

The replacement of wooden seats on most Swiss railways or their "light" upholstery was usually brown leatherette, in a few cases dark green or red. The colourful seating started as follows:

1958 first class EW I of SBB with green textile for non smoking an red for smoking

1960 Bodensee-Toggenburg-Bahn with green and red leatherette in second class (the small first class was blue textile, independent from the amount of smoke produced...)

1965 SBB EW II with green and red plastic cover

1973 SBB EW I refurbished with similar seats as EW II

1976 BLS EW I of the last series with blue and red textile

Vinnitsa, who operate many of the Mirage trams (1601-1726), will receive 35 Tram 2000 between 2022 and 2025:
