Re450 Technical Drawings?

robert@...

Does anyone know where I can find technical drawings of the SBB
Re450? Good side and front view photographs may work as well. I am
beginning a project to model the locomotive in Brass. Any help would
be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
-Rob

Rob,
The official SBB publication "SBB Lokomotiven und Triebwagen" contains an
Re450 side view technical drawing with measurements. I would also imagine
that the public relations department would supply you with information on
request.
Good luck
John.
P.S. Please can you make me an Re450 in N-scale to haul the coaches that
were produced years ago and still await suitable motive power ??

When the bilevel coaches were new, the B and AB were also used in trains with Ae 6/6 and Re 4/4". So, no problem to have a suitable motive power in N-scale. But of course, a consist Re 450-B-AB-Bt would be much lovelier.

Yes I agree Markus the present day formation is far more pleasing on the eye. Perhaps WABU will produce an Re450 and Bt soon !!!

Cadera - Poschiavo is still closed and reopening is expected for Dec 6. Off-season passenger traffic can be handled by minibus, but freight is interrupted. What this means in reltion to market share is not yet known (main products transported: lumber and oil products, also some mail in containers)

-----Ursprüngliche Nachricht-----

Sunday, Nov, 19 ...
Because of floods, RhB Bernina had to be closed between Cadera and Poschiavo. November traffic can be assured with minibusses.

Hi John

I would take part for a Re450...
But the quality of WABU rolling stock isn't that fine as the prices
are...
It's an old problem with our manufacturers... Two are producing half
of the wagons, no one a Bt or the Re450, its a pitty! And best of
all: They are complaining nobody buys the wagons! Yes, thats right, i
will never buy a single wagon of a train i cant complete!!!

Re: When Red Locos?

Giger-Baumann <giger.baumann@...>

(Cross-posting from SBB@... )

In May 1984 Re 4/4" 11377 appeard new from factory in red. 11376 was still delivered, also in May, in green and to this day there are still quite some green locomotives around.
But the first red locomotive - apart from Re 4/4 IV - was Re 4/4" 11178, leaving Yverdon shops on 15 November 1983. 11115 from the first series appeared red in 1986.
In 1984 Re 4/4' 10010 and Ae 6/6 11422 were the first red locomotives of their type. They did not yet have the small white line between red and dark grey. In 1985 Ae 6/6 11416 got the white line which was thought to be too much besides the chrome stripes. Subsequently Ae 6/6 11426 onwards (those without chrome stripes) and all Re 4/4' got the white line, when they were repainted. Some Re 4/4' were scrapped still being green. Re 6/6 still were quite new at that time, thus only Re 6/6 returning from heavy repair became red. First was 11674 also in 1984.

Betreff: Re: [SBB] When Red Locos?

I don't think the Swiss Express was in service until 1975 although
prototypes were being tested from 1972.  I suspect the Re4/4' wasn't in
TEE colors until after 1972.  Does anyone know for sure?
Re 4/4' 10033, 10034, 10046 and 10050 got TEE colours in 1972
Re 4/4" 11158-11161 were delivered in TEE colours 1969, 11249-11253 in 1972/73
Re 4/4" 11103 got Swiss Express colours and automatic couplers in 1972, in order to pull the first two A and 1 B (later joined by 1 WR). 11106 was adapted soon after, but the rest only in 1974/75.

lxtc@...

Hello,

I would like to know a bit more about the OKK's (Swiss army) motive

OKK does not exist any more. I do not know where the former rail installations and rolling stock went. This is:

BE, Grünenmatt BE, Zollikofen BE, Ostermundigen BE, etc., etc.
- div. Tm

New SBB Cargo boss

Giger-Baumann <giger.baumann@...>

Cargo (Freight business) bosses of SBB do not seem to last long. After Sörensen and Utnegaard, both from Scandinavia, there is now again a Swiss at the top. Daniel Nordmann was head of personal resource department before. He came from the unions (!) and was successful in dealing a general work contract ("Gesamtarbeitsvertrag" - is there something like that in English??) with the railway unions.
Beside him are Nicholas Perrin who already was in the freight departement and Hansjörg Spillmann who was responsible for Infrastructure finances and development but was in the freight division before.

Blue Swiss-Express?

Giger-Baumann <giger.baumann@...>

Can you imagine a blue Swiss-Express. According to today's press release of BLS and SBB it is planned, that BLS give all EW IV to SBB and take over all EW III (Swiss-Express) from SBB. This transaction would take place in 2002 or 04, when BLS quits long-distance market and concentrates on regional traffic, including RX, for which these cars are thought. It seems possible that BLS also runs RX Bern - Luzern when (Dec 2004) new connection via Rothrist allows faster trains than via Langnau - Wolhusen. No decisions are yet made.

BLS also plans to replace SBB-Kolibri (NPZ) on S1, S11 and S3 with NINA's. I dislike NINA as it is quite a rough rider and has not much space for one passenger. It is rather a fast tramway than a train. (I daily use S33 which is still a BLS NPZ but would be a SBB NPZ next May).

Changes in freight traffic due to cooperation agreement between SBB and BLS will already take place next May. Carload service will be secuerd by SBB which might ask BLS for help with locomotives and engineers. Piggyback on the Lötschberg route is organized and run by BLS alone. In transit haulage, SBB and BLS will act as competitors. BLS freight business will be placed in a daughter company. Also SBB-Cargo is a separate entity as from 1 Jan 2001.

Dear Markus,

Thank you and I wish you the very best of holidays also.

I feel a little guilty, because I enjoy reading the posts, and I am sure it
takes a lot of work to compile, but I never have anything to contribute.

Best Wishes,

Colin
