If no 420.5 is available then a 465 would be used. As these get their R3 and
hideous paint scheme they no longer have the ability to work with EWII.

Those not yet done are 002 003 005 006 008 016 017
465 005 was released after R3 overhaul and green paint on 19.10.2021

Martin:

I do not follow locomotive maintenance very closely but was 465 005 retrofitted with the IGBT electronics put in refurbished 460's?

Thanks

BLS Re 465 was different from SBB 460 right from delivery. BLS doesn't feel the need to go so far in the modernisation as SBB does. They will get some minor improvements and a new MU system, ending the possibility to MU with Re 425 but establishing MU with all modern types of locomotives that BLSC uses. Furthermore MU with MOB driving trailers is possible and after the rebuild of some driving trailers, Re 465 will take over the car shuttles. From a financial definition, the locomotives are thought for:
2 Golden Pass
6 Car shuttles
10 Cargo

But this will vary over the year and the locomotives will be exchanged, so no numerical attribution to the three purposes.
