But the Cargo duties were the reason why the Ee 3/3 remained so long. Their purely electromechanical gear allowed to run under 11 kV on three-rail track.

The Ee 3/3 at Chur were largely used for the passenger sector with a little Cargo work. Cargo will now use either an Am 843 or a mainline loco. Passenger shunting at Chur has virtually disappeared due to most trains being either units or 460 pushpull so SBB-P will no longer have shunting locos at Chur

What was sent to Chur as replacement?

16383 and 16410 were withdrawn from Chur (hauled away by 11140) on Wednesday. This means there is only one active loco left on SBB: 16406 at Bellinzona. It has an adapter coupler at one end so that it can be used to move FLIRT units if required
