BN EW IA Numbers
Alan McMillan
A quick question for Markus:
I've discovered I haven't created decals for the EWIA that will be part of my six car BLS/BN train in 1976 livery. Do you by any chance have numbers for either BLS or BN A vehicles? Regards Alan Edinburgh |

I know that there were AFAIR 13 EWI A in the combined BLS/SEZ/BN fleet. This was the model by Lima for the late 70s/early 80s:
309513: 50 63 18-33 806-2 I have books which provide road numbers for coaches for SBB rolling stock. I do not have the same information for BLS coaches. I also have information in books for SOB and BT but never came across similar for the BLS Group. Markus likely has more information and it would be cool if he could provide a source (book) for same. Most BLS rolling stock is listed in
Das grosse Buch der Lötschbergbahn by Patrick Beloncle. I am uncertain if it is still in print |

BN didn't have A, only AB. The 1976 blue/cream was only applied to A 806-812. A 800-805 had been delivered in green and when they were refurbished, they got the new type of blue/cream with completely blue ends.I'd really like to have a BN one. Markus, Gürbetal |

This is very interesting as a topic. As far as I knew, the BN first class EWI coaches were delivered in green.
I did not know that they never received the blue/beige livery with original inscriptions. When they were repainted in the more modern livery with blue ends, did they already receive the stylized logo with BN in the blue box and Bern Neuenburg markings similar to the 1980s BLS and SBB logo (post EWIV) or did any of them receive the new livery but retain the inscriptions at the middle of the coach body? I have the early 80s edition of Simplon Loetschberg by Marti and Trüb. Unlike the Die Gotthardbahn book, I don't have the earlier editions with older photos. Regards Mike C |

Yes, some of them did Mike. I also have a Lima EWI like this with ‘BLS’ in the middle of the side:
